Assisted Travel Scheme
Eligible residents may use the concessionary fares scheme. For rural and/or disabled residents there is also the choice of using the community taxi scheme.
Concessionary bus fares scheme
The Council, in partnership with other councils in Warwickshire provides a concessionary bus fares scheme which allows completely free bus travel throughout the whole of the County of Warwickshire.
From 1st April 2008, the scheme was extended with government funding to provide completely free bus travel throughout the country. Please refer to the list of frequently asked questions for further details.
Am I eligible?
To qualify for a bus pass you must be a permanent resident in the Warwick District Council area and be aged at least 60 or be disabled in one of the following ways:
- blind or partially sighted
- profoundly or severely deaf
- without speech
- disability or injury which has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on ability to walk
- without arms or legs or have long-term loss of the use of both arms
- learning disability
- refused a driving licence on medical grounds.
Definitions of disability used by the Council to decide eligibility are those set out in the Transport Act 2000.
In addition, if you are so disabled that you cannot travel alone we can issue you with a pass which allows someone to travel with you.
How do I apply?
You can apply in any of the following ways.
You will be required to either scan in or send in some evidence of your age or disability, proof of residency and a passport-sized photograph.
- Proof of age - birth certificate, driving licence, passport
- Proof of residency - utility bill, bank statement

Please bring with you some evidence of your age or disability, proof of residency and a passport-sized photograph. Your application will be processed and a bus pass returned to you by post.

4. Write
State your name, full postal address and enclose some evidence of your age or disability, proof of residency and a passport-sized photograph.
If you are aged below 60 and applying for a pass on the basis of disability you will need to provide appropriate evidence. The following are examples:

Blind or partially sighted – certificate of registration with Social Services or Warwickshire Association for the Blind

Learning disability – letter from special school, Mencap or Social Services

Other forms of disability – Blue Badge or certificates confirming, for example, Higher Rate DLA or War Pension Mobility Supplement

Refused a driving licence on medical grounds – DVLA refusal notice.
When can I use my pass?
Bus passes can be used after 9.00 a.m. on Monday to Friday and at any time on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. (This is in excess of the statutory scheme which only provides for free travel after 9.30am).
What do I do if I lose my pass or no longer need it?
If you lose your pass a replacement can be issued upon payment of £10.
If you no longer require a pass, e.g. if you move outside the district, please return it as soon as possible to one of the Council’s offices.
