Cycling is a sustainable form of transport and a healthier alternative to taking the car.
According to the National Cycling Strategy cycling accounts for less than 2% of journeys in the UK. This is considerably lower than some of our European neighbours. The aim is now to encourage and promote the use of cycling as a safer, healthier form of travelling.
Warwick District Council has contributed to these principles by providing traffic free cycle routes across some of our land. Warwickshire County Council also provide information about the cycle route network.
Cycling on a regular basis increases stamina and cardiovascular fitness. Cycling to and from work instead of driving can also reduce the stresses of being stuck in rush hour traffic.
