Schools

We offer resources for teachers to lead school visits on a number of curriculum topics for Key Stages 1 and 2. Follow a trail around the gallery, or use our free activity boxes which cover World War II, Ancient Egypt, the Victorians and Geography.

Learning resources

We have a number of learning resources for key stages 1 and 2. Each offers worksheets and practical activities to help children to engage with museum objects. Subject areas include the Victorians, World War II, the Egyptians, Toys and Games, visual art, shape/pattern and Barnaby Bear’s travels around the world. There is also much scope for cross-curricular learning, including literacy, numeracy and PSHE.

Digital resources include online collections at www.lsagmcollections.org.uk and two educational website, A Walk Around Victorian Leamington Spa and Toys and Games, both of which are available within the spotlights section of the Windows on Warwickshire website, www.windowsonwarwickshire.org.uk

Toys and Games

The Toys and Games website and is aimed at Key Stage 1 school children. Interactive games challenge children to guess which is the oldest, identify materials and to look at toys from around the world. The website features a gallery of images, including historic objects from St John’s museum in Warwick and Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum. There are also ideas for extension activities in the classroom.

A Walk Around Victorian Leamington Spa

A Walk Around Victorian Leamington Spa is aimed at Key Stage 2 school children. The website presents the places, buildings and people of Victorian Leamington Spa. Images and objects from the time are drawn from the collections of Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum and Warwickshire County Record Office.

Schools can use the website in conjunction with a class visit to the Art Gallery & Museum. The trail map and supporting documents can even be printed off and used outside of school time as a basis for a great family day out in Leamington Spa!
