Blue badges

The responsibility of the Blue Badge is on the holder, of which it is down to the holder to use the badge correctly and properly and to ensure that the badge is only used by themselves. It is a criminal offence for the badge holder and anyone else who misuses the badge; this can lead to a £1,000 fine.

There are many parking facilities in Leamington Spa, Warwick and Kenilworth for disabled drivers who hold a Blue Badge.

Where can I park?

Blue Badge holders may park in any on street Pay and Display bay, Limited Wait bay or Residents shared use bays and in all of Warwick District Council pay and display car parks free of charge with no time limit, provided a valid badge is clearly on display in the windscreen. Badge holders may also park on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours (if loading ban is not in place), the parking disc must be on display stating time of arrival along with the blue badge correctly displayed with the expiry information on show.

Places where you cannot park

The Blue Badge does not permitted holders to park anywhere, blue badge holders must obey the rules of the road as laid out in the Highway Code, please see below areas of which the badges is not valid for concessionary parking.

  • Doctor’s bays, Taxi bays,
  • Loading bays 
  • Bus stops/ cycle lanes,
  • Pedestrian crossings (including zebra, pelican, toucan and puffin crossings) also area’s marked with zig zag lines,
  • During the time a loading or unloading ban is in force,
  • School ‘keep clear’ markings during the hours shown on yellow no-stopping plate,
  • Clearways (no stopping),
  • Suspended bay (clearly marked with cones and signage),

Loading bans in place

  • Double yellow blips indicate loading is not permitted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including banks holidays,
  • Single yellow blip indicates that loading ban is in force within a lesser period which is stated upon signage (signage should be read before leaving the vehicle unattended).
