Refuse collection

Winter service disruptions

For latest news on service status visit our service disruption page.

Non-recyclable waste

On average around 80% of your general household waste can be recycled via your red box/ bag and green bin - this means you will be left with very little waste to go into your grey bin or refuse sack.

 Grey bin

Grey bin collection

Please use your grey bin for household items that we CANNOT currently collect for recycling such as any plastics that are NOT bottles, securely wrapped broken glass, crisp/ sweet wrappers and disposable nappies.

 Grey sacks

Refuse sack collection (properties without a grey bin)

We are no longer supplying grey sacks.  They were introduced in 2008 at the start of the new contract, to limit the amount of waste residents could present each week and encourage them to recycle more.
Surveys have shown that in many areas residents are presenting waste in their own black refuse sacks in addition to the grey ones, making this scheme unworkable.
The Council is now looking at a number of other initiatives to help residents recycle more, one of which will be to move suitable properties currently receiving this type of collection onto the alternating waste collection service, providing a green wheeled bin for garden and food waste and a grey wheeled bin for non-recyclable waste.

PLEASE NOTE:  You will have to supply your own refuse sacks that have a maximum capacity of 75 litres.  Up to 2 x 75 litre bags or equivalent can be placed out for collection each week.

Hazardous Waste

Your grey bin/ refuse sacks MUST NOT BE USED for items that we collect for recycling or for potentially hazardous waste such as:

  • Rubble, stones, soil/ garden waste
  • Liquids (including paint and oils)
  • DIY materials; such as plaster, wallpaper, wood etc
  • Tyres
  • Gas canisters
  • Heavy items

Warwickshire County Council, who run the Household Waste and Recycling Centres can advise on the safe disposal of unwanted items. They can be contacted on 01926 412593.

Bulky Items

We run a chargeable bulky waste collection service for large household items; such as furniture, cookers, fridges etc - Please contact us for details or to arrange a collection.
