Refuse collection

**Bank Holiday collections** - all rubbish and recycling collections will be made as normal on bank holidays.

On average around 80% of your general household waste can be recycled via your red box/ bag and green bin.

 Grey bin

Grey bin collection

Please use your grey bin for household items that we CANNOT currently collect for recycling. Please take care of your wheeled bins - you may be charged £37.00 for a replacement.

Households with six or more residents can apply for a larger wheeled bin. All applications are individually assessed to ensure that recycling refuse is being correctly disposed. Contact us on 01926 456339 or sort-it@warwickshire.gov.uk.

 Grey sacks

Refuse sack collection (properties without a grey bin)

We no longer supply grey sacks. You will have to supply your own refuse sacks that have a maximum capacity of 75 litres.  Up to 2 x 75 litre bags or equivalent can be placed out for collection each week.

Refuse sacks must not be placed out on the highway unless agreed with the council, as this may be considered as flytipping which is an offence.

Putting out your refuse

Your grey bin/ refuse sacks must be presented at the edge of your property by 7am on your day of collection. Please return them to your property as soon as possible after collection. The lids of your wheeled bins must be firmly down. If you forget to put your bin out, the collection crew will not be able to return. You will need to wait two weeks until that type of bin is emptied again. Sign up for email reminders at www.greenboxday.co.uk.

Damaged or missing bins

Householders are responsible for safely securing their bins. If you move home the bins must be left at the property. Should your bin go missing or gets damaged please contact contract.services@warwickdc.gov.uk or telephone 01926 412464 to arrange replacement. Please take care of your wheeled bins - you may be charged £37.00 for a replacement.

Nappies

Households with two or more children under the age of three and a half can apply for a nappy bin for disposal of nappies only. There will be an annual rental charge for the extra bin. For more information please contact us on 01926 456339 or sort-it@warwickshire.gov.uk.

Recyclable or hazardous items

Your grey bin/ refuse sacks MUST NOT BE USED for items that we collect for recycling or for potentially hazardous waste such as:

  • Rubble, stones, soil/ garden waste
  • Liquids (including paint and oils)
  • DIY materials; such as plaster, wallpaper, wood etc
  • Tyres
  • Gas canisters
  • Heavy items

The local Household Waste and Recycling Centres can advise on the safe disposal of unwanted items. Contact them on 01926 412593.

Bulky items

We run a chargeable bulky waste collection service for large household items such as furniture, cookers, fridges etc.

Garden waste

If your property does not receive a green bin collection your garden waste must be taken to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre or composted at home. Subsidised compost bins are available at Get Composting or you can call them on 0845 130 6090.
