The problem with food waste
8.3 million tonnes of food waste is thrown away by households in the UK every year – that’s the equivalent weight of approximately 1.5 million elephants! Rather than harmlessly decomposing, food waste rotting in landfill sites produces methane gas because there is no oxygen present. Methane is a very harmful greenhouse gas. Using a Green Cone allows air to get to the food waste meaning hardly any methane is produced – good news for the planet!
