Sewers

Severn Trent Sewer Transfer

On Saturday 1st October 2011 the ownership of private sewers and lateral drains (which connect to the public sewer system) in Warwick district transferred from the property owner’s responsibility to the responsibility of Severn Trent Water. Privately owned pumping stations which meet the same criteria will also be adopted by Severn Trent Water by 1st October 2016.

What does this mean for you?

Since the 1st October 2011 the majority of private drainage enquiries now need to be directed to Severn Trent Water who will look to resolve enquiries regarding all sewers and drains outside of property boundaries. However, homeowners are still responsible for the private drains within their boundary which are not shared with other properties.

After Transfer

From 1st of October 2011 if your enquiry is due to a blocked (or damaged) sewer or a broken manhole cover then please call Severn Trent Water’s 24/7 call centre on 0800 783 4444 who will be able to assist.

Alternately if you wish to speak to one of Warwick District Council’s Community Protection flood risk team regarding the transfer then please call 01926 456346 or email community.protection@warwickdc.gov.uk

For more information regarding the transfer please visit Severn Trent Water’s website.
