In August 2007 local authorities in the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire sub-region commissioned Halcrow to produce a Level 1 Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) in accordance with Planning Policy Statement 25: Development and Flood Risk (PPS 25).
The purpose of this SFRA is to assess and map all forms of flood risk from groundwater, surfacewater, sewer and river sources, taking into account future climate change predictions, and use this as an evidence base to locate future development primarily in low flood risk areas.
The outputs from the SFRA will help the Councils to prepare sustainable policies for the long-term management of flood risk and improve existing emergency planning procedures.
