New Local Plan

Local Plan Preferred Options

The Council is preparing a new Local Plan for Warwick District, which will guide the area's future development for the next 18 years.

What we are doing now

We have been analysing and considering responses to the Preferred Options. Most of the responses are now available to view online

We have also been updating our evidence, for instance looking at results from Census and new economic trends; examining the capacity of the transport network and updating information about flooding.

We are also taking into account the implications of the Planning Inspectorate's advice to Coventry City Council, which also affects how we plan. This matter was considered by Executive on 17 April 2013. We will be taking part in a review of housing requirement along with other councils in the sub region.

We are currently focussing on taking this all into account to produce the next stage of the plan.

Next steps

The Preferred Options report of public consultation and further evidence we are gathering will inform the Revised Development Strategy. This will be considered by Council on 4 June 2013 and if approved, public consultation for six weeks will follow shortly after.

Following this consultation we will be preparing a submission draft of the Local Plan. The date for this is still to be determined. As consequence the current Local Development Scheme will be updated in June.
