The Council is preparing a new Local Plan for Warwick District, which will guide the area's future development for the next 18 years.
The first stage in the process was to ask what you think are the important issues and challenges facing local communities today, and how you would like to see your local area and the district change in the future to address those issues. Find further information on this process below.
What we are doing now
On 1 December 2011 Council approved ‘A Strategy for the Future and Sustainable Prosperity of Warwick District’ as the basis for future preparation of the Local Plan. Since then, we have gathered and updated evidence to inform the next stage of the plan. The Local Plan Preferred Options document will be considered by the Council on 21 May 2012, if Executive approve this consultation will begin on 1 June 2012.
The Preferred Options has been prepared alongside a Draft Sustainability Appraisal (SA). The appraisal tables (338kb, PDF)are now available, the complete draft SA will be published prior to 21 May 2012.
Next Steps
In June and July 2012, we will consult you about where new developments should be located to best address the important issues, what infrastructure would be required and what type of new developments we should be encouraging. Helping Shape the District - Issues & Scenarios
Public consultation ran between 18 March and 15 July 2011. During this time we spoke to many people at drop in sessions and public meetings around the district.
Results
As part of the consultation. we also prepared a more detailed report (4MB, PDF) explaining how the Council will ensure that the New Local Plan contributes towards delivering sustainable development, and including background technical information explaining the key issues and scenarios within the paper.
