The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) is a key part of the evidence that supports the New Local Plan. Its purpose is to identify land and buildings with potential for new housing. The Council is required to prepare a SHLAA for its area and the most up to date version was published in June 2009. The Council has now started a review of the SHLAA and details are given below.
Please note that the inclusion of a piece of land in the SHLAA is not an indication that it will be developed or that planning permission will be granted. The New Local Plan will be the document that determines which strategic sites are to be allocated for housing to meet future requirements.
