Core Strategy (Superseded)

Local Development Framework

This page gives details of the work that was undertaken by the Council in preparing a Core Strategy to guide future developments in the District up to 2026.  In response to the Government's announcement of its intent to abolish regional spatial strategies and proposed changes to the planning system, the Council decided not to proceed with preparing a Core Strategy in 2010. 

The Council are now working on preparing a New Local Plan

Evidence

Technical documents gathered to support policies and plans proposed within the Core Strategy are available to view on the Evidence Base page.

Alternative Sites

In response to the "Preferred Options" consultation in 2009, a number of landowners put forward alternative sites to meet future development needs. These sites had not previously been considered by the Council.  In order for the Council to properly consider these sites, they were made available for public comment between February 26th and April 9th 2010.  You can view the online version of the Alternative Sites Paper or download the printed version (3.6mb, PDF).

All responses have been input into our LDF consultation system where you can view a summary of each response.  The Report of Public Consultation (464kb, PDF) provides an overview of the consultation and the comments received.

Preferred Options

The Council published a Preferred Options Paper (2.3mb, PDF) and draft Sustainability Appraisal (2.4mb, PDF)   for public consultation between July 3rd and September 25th 2009.

Options

Prior to the Preferred Options, the Council published an Options for Growth Paper for public consultation between 15th May and 10th July 2008.  To support the consultation, the following documents were produced:

Issues

Prior to the Options, the Council published an Issues Paper that set out the key planning issues that it considered would affect Warwick District in the period up to 2026. This consultation ran from 23rd November 2007 until 18th January 2008.

The Core Strategy, we are using a Local Development Framework (LDF) Consultation System.  You will be able to make comments on every stage of the Core Strategy using this system.  In order to complete any online consultations, follow the instructions on to how to register, found on the first page of the LDF consultation system. The registration process is secure and only needs to be done once. It enables the Council to get back to you and also inform you of future planning consultations.
