Heritage open days

Babies at exhibition

The 6th to the 9th September marked the 2012 Heritage Open Days event in Warwick district. This was the 10th year that Warwick District Council has been involved with the National Heritage Open Days Event.

The Heritage Open Days are organised as part of the National Heritage Open Days and is sponsored by English Heritage. The aim of the event is to make available buildings and gardens not normally open to the public, either free of charge or where the admission charge is used for charitable purposes.

This year we had 54 attractions participating and there was something on offer for everyone be it places of worship, guided walks or trips behind the scenes at some of the most interesting buildings which do not normally open their doors to the public.

This year we are again offered a 'Blue Plaques' guided walk which alongside several other historicalwalks showcases the diversity which exists in Warwick District.

The 2012 weekend

2012 has proved very successful for the Heritage Open Days weekend. The feedback we have already received has been very encouraging. Heritage Open Days issued the following Press Release (123kb, PDF) after September 9th 2012.

We wish to thank all the venues that took part and the many visitors who spent time visiting the wide variety of venues. We look forward to working again next year on this event.

You can contact the team at heritageopenday@warwickdc.gov.uk with feedback and suggestions for 2013.  If you would like to give more detailed feedback please complete the attached Visitor Feedback form.  We look forward to hearing from you.
