The Course
The Course was established from ridge and furrow farmland in 1973. Since that time the course has been developed into one of the finest municipal courses in the Midlands, suitable for golfers of all standards. The Course is an 18 hole par 70, 6,315 yds course based in the historic town of Royal Leamington Spa, offering extensive views over the town and surrounding area. It is well matured for its age, with established woodland and copses throughout.
As well as the 18 holes golf course, the site benefits from a pro shop, pitch and putt area, practice area and has a public house on site.
New Developments at Newbold Comyn
Following an extensive selection process Warwick District Council have selected Mack Golf as the new company to manage and develop Newbold Comyn Golf Course from April 2010.
The Council has been working over the past 12 months to ensure that an appropriate company is appointed who have a proven track record in managing and investing in golf facilities.
Councillor Mrs Sue Gallagher, Portfolio Holder for Culture said "I am absolutely delighted that Mack Golf have been chosen to take up the lease of Newbold Comyn Golf Course, they have a fine track record of investing in golf courses and I think that Warwick District will benefit from their expertise. I am very excited about the future of the course."
A key part of the contract is that pay and play golf remains available for customers. Mack Golf will also be making significant investment in the facilities including:
- Improved practice area
- Junior Golf Academy
- New course signage
- Improvements to course pathways and tracks
- Redevelopment of the existing shop and existing changing facilities
- Introduction of an online booking system
Warwick District Council officers are currently working with Mack Trading to agree details of the handover due on 1st April 2010. The course will remain available throughout the transition period and it is the intention to keep disruption to customers to an absolute minimum.
