The Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership for the 2012 Games, is a unique combination of private, public and voluntary organisations working together to maximise the opportunities around the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
With the announcement that Coventry will be a host city for part of the Olympic football competition in 2012, the sub-region could not be better placed to make the most of the Games coming to the UK before, during and long after 2012. Our focus is built on engaging as many people and organisations around the key areas of Sport, Culture, Business, Tourism, Education and Pre-Games Training Camps. To achieve this we have over 20 projects and initiatives that are designed to involve and inspire everyone to be the best that they can be and to be part of this once in a life time opportunity.
How can you get involved? The London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics will be Games like no other. For the first time, the excitement, benefits and involvement in the Games are being spread right across the host nation through sporting, cultural, volunteering and educational projects. Here are just some of the ways you can get involved with London 2012:
Inspire Mark: The Inspire Mark is an accreditation given to non commercial projects that have been inspired by the London 2012 Games and reflect the core Olympic and Paralympic values. By receiving the Inspire Mark, projects are then officially part of the Cultural Olympiad which is a four year programme of cultural activity, events and festivals.
Volunteering: The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will require over 70,000 volunteers to make the event happen. The application process is due to open in the summer of 2010 and is open to anyone over the age of 18 who is able to commit to 10 days of volunteering during the Games period.
Get Set Education Programme: This is a scheme run by London 2012 to provide a range of free online resources for teachers and students to apply to projects and work so that they can incorporate the Olympic and Paralympic values into their education.
