London Olympics 2012 Torch Relay
Warwick District Council are delighted to announce that the London Olympic 2012 Torch Relay is coming through Warwick District on 1st July 2012. Watch this space for further information on events and activities that will be planned for the Torch Relay Weekend
Warwick Lions Club to hold Olympic themed carnival
On Saturday 30th June 2012 Warwick Lions club will be running team games of 'Olympic Torch' relays as part of their Olympic themed events in the carnival arena for Under 12s. The carnival starts at 12midday with a procession from Hampton Road, and through Warwick Town Centre to St Nicholas Park. A call to clubs and groups planning 2012 activities
With the London Olympics just over a year away, Warwick District Council is gathering information on sports, arts, and cultural activities being planned in the district that are linked to 2012. We can promote your event or activity FREE on our website and give you access to our '2012 logo' for use on any promotions.
To register an event or activity download the 2012 form (186kb, WORD) or call the Sports Development Team on 01926 456221/456222. There is no deadline for return of forms, we will add details anytime up to the 2012 games.
Warwick University to be training ground for 2012 Games
Warwick University had been confirmed as a football training venue for the 2012 Olympic Games. The university said it would get a share of £10m funding to improve its facilities which would be used by players from around the world. Teams will train at Warwick before playing at Coventry's Ricoh Arena which will be one of the football venues for the next Olympics.
