Warwick District Local Sports Network

'Together getting Warwick District active'

Over the coming months the LSN will be working with key partners to deliver the following projects:

  • A new 'Get Active Guide' 2012/13 will be produced. This will provide information on a range of ways for residents to get active and stay healthy.
  • A Sports Development Night will be organised for March 2012. This will be open to clubs and groups to provide a range of information and advice on sports topics such as: links with schools, funding, coach education, volunteer development, access to facilities, safeguarding, and lots more. Watch this space for further information.
  • We have recently written to all sports clubs in the district to gather information which will enable us to produce a New Clubs Directory in Spring 2012. If your club hasn't received a letter about this then let us know by emailing Stuart Poole or calling 01926 456222.

Second Measured Mile Launched

The route at St Nicholas Park in Warwick was installed in October 2010 and follows on from the Victoria Park Measured Mile installation. Along the circular footpath of the park, the route is a great way for residents to stay active.

Holiday activities

The Local Sports Network is a group of partner organisations working together to make sport and active recreation inclusive and provide opportunities to widen access with the aim of increasing current participation.

The Local Sports Network meets approximately 4-6 times a year and has been established since 2007.

Some examples of what the LSN has achieved so far:

  • Production of the Warwick District Sports Clubs Guide
  • Joint action plan for all partner organisations
  • Organising the Warwick District Sports Clubs Development Evening 2008
  • Supporting successful community investment funding bids including: Brunswick Gets Physical, Victoria Park Tennis project, Warwick Tennis Club project, Coaching Grant scheme and Sport Workforce Development
  • Approved funding submissions for Sport Unlimited applications for activity delivery in Warwick District - approximately £30k

The Local Sports Network aims to continue to develop the Action Plan (2009-2012) which will include both medium and long term goals.
