Local wildlife

Warwick District Council works in partnership with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust to manage a number of Local Nature Reserves.

In addition, we are actively seeking to improve the wildlife value of many of our parks and open spaces through adopting management techniques which provide good habitat.

Some of the things we are doing to encourage wildlife in the district include:

  • Leaving areas of unmown grass around the margins of some parks
  • Providing bat and bird boxes in trees
  • Leaving dead wood in trees where it is safe to do so
  • Creating 'habitat piles' of logs in some parks and woodland areas
  • Seeking to reduce our use of pesticides wherever it is practical to do so
