Army cadets
What they do There are over 40,000 members of the army cadet force which includes 10,000 girls and 8,000 volunteer instructors. You can be between the ages of 12-18 to join. With over 1,700 cadet units across the UK, its one of the UK's top organisations for young people.

Sea cadets
What they do The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is a charity that was formed in 2004. It's a nationwide voluntary youth organisation, open to young people aged 12-18. The Sea cadets is one of the UK's long lasting maritime youth charity, with 400 units throughout the UK and 15,000 young people.

Scouts
Beavers Beaver scouts are young children usually aged between 6 and 8 years old, meaning they belong to the first and youngest of the scouts. Young children can also join beaver scouts in the three months leading to their sixth birthday.
Cubs Cub scouting is for boys and girls aged 8 to 10 and a half years of age.
Scout section The scout troop is the third section in the scout group and is for young people aged between 10 and a half and 14 years old. Explorer scouts is for 14-18 year olds.

Territorial Army
The Territorial Army, or TA as it is usually known, is part of Britain’s reserve land forces. Together with the Regular Reserve the TA provides support to the Regular Army at home and overseas. In order to join the TA you must be medically fit and be aged 17-43 to be a soldier or 17-33 to be an officer. The TA is divided into three types of unit; National, Regional and Sponsored, and anyone wanting to join may be given the choice of two of these units.
