There are many local leisure centres and facilities for sport and play.
Warwick District - Sports Clubs Audit 2009/10
The Sports Development Team will be completing an audit of local sports clubs in the district over the next few months. The aim of the audit will be to gather information on local sports club opportunities and to provide local clubs with the chance to publicise club information on the Warwick District Council website. Funding - 'Good News'
Warwick District Council Sports Development in partnership with the Central Area School Sports Partnership and local sports clubs has been successful in attaining approximately £14,255 from Sport England through the Sport Unlimited programme (Previously Extended Activities). This funding is to run various extra curricular sports activities across Warwick District for 11 -19 year olds during Autumn 08 and Spring 09. The projects funded include:
- Kick Boxing at St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre, Warwick
- Cardio Tennis at Warwick Tennis Club
- Skipping, Cheerleading, Hip Hop and Trampolining at North Leamington School
- Football at Racing Club Warwick, Whitnash Town, and Leamington Lions FC.
Additional funding will be available for activity delivery for the period April 09 - March 2010. Any sports clubs/groups that may be interested in applying should contact the Sports Development Team on 01926 456221. Please note applications need to be submitted by mid December 08.
Newbold Comyn Golf Course
There have been some great scenes at Newbold Comyn Golf Course all week with the course benefiting from a much needed rain free spell. The course has dried out rapidly and the mowers have been out in full force. Call 01926 421157 to book your round, or if golf's not to your fancy why not make use of the walks around the course which provide some of the best views of Leamington and the surrounding countryside. Summer Activities 2008
The Sports Development Team successfully ran a range of Sports Zone holiday activities throughout the summer including Sports Play and Multi Sports in many rural and town locations. Basketball Camps were also held at Meadows Community Sports Centre and John Atkinson Sports Centre. In total the team achieved 1368 young people contacts over the six weeks.
Comments received from young people and parents/carers included:

- 'Excellent Programme, well thought out and delivered'

Olympic Handover
On Sunday 24th August 2008 the district celebrated the raising of the Olympic Flag to mark the start of the build up to the 2012 London Olympics with flag raising events at two locations. The Chairman of Warwick District Council, Cllr Judy Falp raised the flag at Victoria Park Bowling Greens, Archery Road, Leamington Spa and The Mayor of Warwick, Cllr Anne Mellor raised the flag at Racing Club Warwick, Hampton Street, Warwick.

We're Getting Big on Play in Warwick District
Thanks to a Big Lottery Fund grant of over £218,000, during the summer months we are going to get Big on Play with an exciting range of free play activities for children and young people. In partnership with the Arts in Warwickshire Education service and also the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers, we will be providing opportunities for children to get creative with recycled materials and also have fun with a range of games and activities in our parks and open spaces.

Community Sports Network
A new group has been established in Warwick district with the aim of bringing together key partners in sport. Current membership includes Warwick District Council, Primary Care Trust, Central Warwickshire School Sports Partnership, Warwickshire Race Equality Partnership, Community Safety and disability sport representatives.
