The 13th at Newbold Comyn - Picture taken by Steve Johnson

The Course was established from ridge and furrow farmland in 1973. Since that time the course has been developed into one of the finest municipal courses in the Midlands, suitable for golfers of all standards.

The Course is an 18 hole par 70, 6,315 yds course based in the historic town of Royal Leamington Spa, offering extensive views over the town and surrounding area. It is well matured for its age, with established woodland and copses throughout.

As well as the 18 holes golf course, the site benefits from a pro shop, pitch and putt area, practice area and has a public house on site.

May 2009. The Basic Bunker Shot. Although the best way to good bunker play is to avoid them altogether, from time to time we will find ourselves in a greenside bunker. There are a couple of rules/guidelines which if applied to your technique can dramatically improve the end result.

1. Make sure you get it out. The most important bit is that we get the ball out first time, remember it's best to leave yourself a 20ft putt than leaving yourself another bunker shot.
2. The bunker shot is the only shot in golf where we don't actually make contact with the golf ball; it's the sand we hit first and it's the piece of sand we take out which lifts the ball out of the bunker.
3. Taking n.2 into consideration, we want to be playing the shot just left of centre (to the right hander) in our stance, this will encourage the club to enter the sand before the ball.
4. Taking no. 3 into consideration, we must make sure (like all short game shots) the club is accelerating during the down swing; to many people get afraid of bunker shots and de-accelerate into the ball leaving the club to dive deep into the sand often resulting in the ball being left in the bunker.
