If you
- are on a low income (including employed or self employed) - you don't need to be claiming any other benefit to qualify
- have savings that are less than £16,000 (different capital rules apply to people over 60)
- are responsible for paying rent
- fall into certain categories of student
you may be entitled to Housing Benefit.
You should start claiming as soon as possible: If you delay claiming, you may lose benefit. You can apply even if you don't have all the supporting information, as this can be sent to us later.
