Housing benefit payments by BACS

Did you know that we can now send you payments by BACS (Bankers Automated Clearing System), the system used by the banking industry as a more secure and effective way to process payments than cheques?

Some of the advantages to you of being paid by BACS are:

  • The risk of your payments being lost within the post is eliminated.
  • The risk of your payments being delayed due to late postal deliveries is eliminated.
  • The risk of your payment being delayed due to postal workers industrial action is eliminated.
  • The risk of payments being stolen is eliminated.
  • Your payments arrive “cleared” at your Bank, so there is no need to wait for funds to clear.
  • You do not have the inconvenience of having to pay cheques into your Bank account or charges from your Bank for doing so.

If you would like your future payments to be made by BACS please download our BACS payment form (31kb, PDF), complete, sign and return to us at:

Warwick District Council
P.O. Box 258

You can also safeguard your Housing Benefit payments from your Bank using these payments to repay any overdrafts you may have by using your right of appropriation.

Please be aware that we are only able to make payments to current accounts with an eight digit account number.
