Housing improvement and repairs

Council housing maintenance

As a major provider of housing in the district the council spends significant amounts of money on repairs and improvements. There is a programme of work for cyclical and planned maintenance.

Cyclical maintenance is the external painting to dwellings, painting of internal communal areas to flats, servicing of gas appliances and maintenance of electrical installations.

Planned maintenance focuses predominantly on achieving the Decent Homes Standard and includes such works as renewal of kitchens and bathrooms, replacement of roofs, installation of efficient heating systems and replacement of windows.

Download the maintenance schedule for 2010/11 (500kb, PDF) for details of the work that will be taking place.
