Risk (Emergency planning)
|
Risk - what we are doing to identify possible causes of emergencies.
Risk assessment is the first stage in the emergency planning process. It identifies all the risks that are faced in Warwickshire, they are ‘assessed’ based on their likelihood of the event happening and level of potential impact on the community based on guidance from Central government. This tells us the ‘level of risk’ we face.
Risk assessment is important in that it enables planning, remedial action and use of resources to be focussed on the highest rated risks in our community.
The Warwickshire Local Resilience Forum publish a ‘Community Risk Register’ each year that outlines the risks we face as a County. In putting the register together, experts from local authorities, the Police, Fire and Rescue services, the Environment Agency, the Health sector and Utility companies analyse each risk.
