Neighbourhood Watch in Warwick District

Neighbourhood Watch is the largest community safety organisation in the country. It is a partnership between the Police, Community Safety departments of local authorities, other voluntary organisations and individuals and families who want to make their neighbourhoods better places to live.  There are currently 850 Neighbourhood Watch schemes/coordinators in Warwick District.

Warwick District Council works closely with Mid Warwickshire Neighbourhood Watch (MWNHW) to make communities feel safer.  Earlier this year MWNHW was invited to take part in monthly meetings of the Operational Delivery Group of the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership for South Warwickshire.

MWNHW has participated in a number of Action Days with partners from the District Council, Warwickshire Police and Warwickshire County Council in various hot spot areas related to theft from vehicles and house burglary.  In each of these events all partners spoke to many householders and delivered hundreds of leaflets to raise awareness and help reduce the levels of crime.

Warwickshire Police recognise the importance of Neighbourhood Watch and sends regular alert messages to coordinators.  120 alert messages have been published since 1 April 2009 and the watch message archive can be found on the Safer Neighbourhoods website.
