Community safety funding

Local area agreement

All funding streams are now drawn together in one Area Based Grant (ABG). There are six blocks in the Local Area Agreement (LAA) and community safety is in the Safer Block.

Administration of the local area agreement safer block fund

The LAA is administered by Warwickshire County Council (WCC).  As part of the 2009/10 WCC budget resolution, the Warwickshire 2009/10 Safer and Stronger Communities Fund (SSCF) Capital Grant of £173,421 is being allocated to the Safer Communities Block.  On the 30th April the Public Service Board approved an additional ABG allocation to the Safer Block of £142,000 in 2009/10. The ABG revenue that is therefore available in addition to that being carried forward from 2008/09 is as follows:
(i) SSCF Revenue Grant (£566,154) + Additional ABG (£142,000) = £708,154

(ii) Road Safety Grant = £1,583,530

A substantial part of the Basic Command Unit award to Warwickshire Police in 2009/10 (£283,750) was used to support Safer Block initiatives.

Safer neighbourhoods funding

In 2007/08 and 2008/09 Warwick District Council made £7500 available to each of the eight Safer Neighbourhood Areas (SNAs) to be administered by the Safer Neighbourhood Panels. During 2008/09 the Safer Neighbourhood Panels evolved into broader Community Forums where local residents can discuss how a range of services are delivered locally with the organisations which provide them.

Further information about Community Forums can be found on the Warwickshire County Council website.
