The verification framework is a good practice guide, which was developed by the Department for Work and Pensions (formerly the Department of Social Security) and came into effect from 5th April 2004.
The framework is designed to stop fraudulent and incorrect claims entering the system. This is when people do not declare their true circumstances either deliberately (fraud) or by mistake.
As a result of this, we have to verify all of your details (original documents only accepted), which sometimes include visiting your home .
Warwick District Council is committed to maximising the income of the people in the community who really need it and are entitled to benefit. We also want to make sure that those people who are abusing the system can no longer do so. The verification framework helps us do this.
