- Savings over £16,000 usually mean you will not be able to get council tax benefit. Savings over £6,000 will affect your claim
- If you have come to live in the United Kingdom in the last 2 years
- Most asylum seekers and people who are sponsored to be in the UK cannot get housing benefits.
- You do not pay council tax on your home.
