Collection days
The new collections started at the beginning of April 2008. All of your recycling and refuse collections will be on the same day of the week. We will collect all of your recycling including garden and food waste one week and then any non-recyclable waste the following week.
Why are we making these changes?
By providing these services we will be able to deal with your waste in a more efficient way. By using your red box and green bin, you will greatly reduce the waste you put in your grey bin for disposal.
This system is already used by many local authorities throughout the UK and is proving to be very effective at increasing recycling and significantly reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.
The benefits
- Makes it more convenient for householders to recycle
- Reduces the amount of waste that has to be landfilled
- Allows garden and food waste to be composted
- Reduces air pollution, which helps to minimise global warming
- Enhances the local environment by ensuring more materials are recycled
- Makes the service more straightforward with your collections on the same day of the week
