Local Plan Omission Sites

The District Council carried out a consultation on Omission Sites arising out of the public consultation on the Warwick District Local Plan 1996 - 2011.

Omission sites comprise the following:-

land suggested by an objector as an allocation,
land where an alternative use to that proposed in the plan is suggested and
sites where a material change to the boundary of a site allocated in the plan is suggested.

Objections proposing Omission Sites were received at first and revised deposit versions of the Local Plan. The Inspector conducting the Public Inquiry into the Local Plan asked the Council to undertake a consultation on these in order that he could be aware of whether there was any wider objection to them.

Copies of all information relating to the Omission Sites consultation can be inspected at the Council’s Office at Riverside House, Milverton Hill, Royal Leamington Spa, at a number of other locations throughout the district (contained in the "Notice" below), and here on this page.

The formal period for making comments on the omission sites ended on 6th March 2006. All of the comments received on the consultation were subsequently passed to the Local Plan Inquiry Inspector.

Since the close of the consultation, it came to the Council's attention that a further site would classify as an "Omission Site" under the Council's interpretation of the Planning Inspectorate's definition. This is the site of the Leyes Lane shopping centre in Kenilworth. Accordingly, a new omission site map (Map 65) was prepared and the deadline for making comments was extended, for this map only, until 12th May 2006. All of the comments received to this consultation were passed to the Local Plan Inquiry Inspector along with other comments made on the other omissions sites before 6th March.
