When you submit any Planning or Building Regulation application, it must be accompanied by a site location plan, to ensure the location of the site can be readily identified. Site location plans are normally based on extracts from the Ordnance Survey maps of the area.

OS Plan Service

The Planning Department can supply you with accurate up-to-date plans centred on your application site. The plans we offer are based on the latest computerised map data supplied by Ordnance Survey, the National Mapping Agency of Great Britain.  If you make your application online via the Planning Portal, a site location plan can be purchased directly from the Portal.

Terms and Conditions

Due to copyright restrictions, we can only supply site location plans at a scale of 1:1250 or 1:2500 for the purpose of making a Planning or Building Regulation application for a site within the boundary of Warwick District, regardless of whether or not you hold an O.S. licence.

The District Council's charge for this service is:

  • Planning Purposes Only (4 copies) = £20.00
  • Building Regulation Purposes Only (2 copies) = £18.00
  • Planning & Building Control Purposes (6 copies) = £22.00

The O.S. maps remain the copyright of the Ordnance Survey, but the Council has a licence (Map Return Scheme) which allows the printing of sets of O.S. extracts.  Map extracts are supplied in black and white on A4 paper at 1:1250 or 1:2500 scale. If other scale plans are required they have to be purchased directly from Ordnance Survey.

Due to the copyright laws, you are not legally permitted to take any further copies yourself.

We reserve the right to refuse orders for whatever reason but we will contact you immediately should this arise. We can accept no responsibility for the quality of the Ordnance Survey information provided.

Plans which cannot be provided

Any other plan, including block plans of the site (scale 1:500), and more detailed plans of the property, including floor and elevational plans cannot be supplied by Warwick District Council. These will therefore need to be drawn by the yourself or an agent/plan drawer/architect. Alternatively, the plans often required to be submitted to Warwick District Council as part of the application (1:500, 1:1250 & 1:2500) can be supplied directly by Ordnance Survey.

What information is required ?

When requesting an O.S. extract the following information is required:

  • Address of person/company requesting the extracts;
  • Contact phone number and/or email address;
  • Address of Ordnance Survery site extract (postcode must be included);
  • Additional information for ease of identification of the site (rural sites, in particular).
