Core Strategy

Warwick District Council is preparing its Core Strategy as part of the Local Development Framework (LDF). The Core Strategy will set the broad framework of planning policies that will shape development for Warwick District up to 2026.

The broad timetable for the production of the Core Strategy is set out below, this can also be found in the Local Development Scheme. 

Options Consultation

The Council has published an "Options Paper" and undertook a public consultation on the "options for growth" between 15th May 2008 and 10th July 2008.  To support the consultation, the following documents have been produced:-

• An Options Paper, available on our LDF e-consultation system (also a downloadable version of the Options Paper (785kb, PDF). 
• A Background Technical Paper (943kb, PDF).  This gives more information on why we have chosen these options.
• An options booklet (600kb, PDF).  This is much shorter document which focuses on the key features of the five options chosen for the consultation. 

Issues

For the first stage of the Core Strategy, the Council prepared an "Issues Paper" that sets out the key planning issues that we consider will be affecting Warwick District in the period up to 2026.  This consultation ran from 23rd November 2007 until 18th January 2008.

Timetable

Technical work

A number of pieces of technical work are being carried out to underpin the Core Strategy.  These include the following:-

• Strategic Flood Risk Assessment
• Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment

Sustainability Appraisal

As part of preparing the Core Strategy the Council is required to undertake a Sustainability Appraisal. The first stage of this is the Scoping Report which can be viewed below:

For the Core Strategy, we are using a Local Development Framework (LDF) Consultation System.  You will be able to make comments on every stage of the Core Strategy using this system.  In order to complete any online consultations, follow the instructions on to how to register, found on the first page of the LDF consultation system. The registration process is secure and only needs to be done once. It enables the Council to get back to you and also inform you of future planning consultations.
