What we do
The Building Control section at Warwick District Council is made up of 8 Building Control Officers and support staff. We are a customer led service, operating a quality assured system to ISO 9001:2000.
The primary role of the section is to deal with applications made under the building regulations. This is not however our sole activity. Building Control also provides the following services;
- Dangerous Structures - Inspection, advice and instigation of remedial works (immediate response)
- Demolitions - Inspection and advice within 2 working days
- Access for the disabled - Inspect and advise within 2 working days
- Safety at sports grounds - Inspect and advise within 2 working days
- Temporary stands and structures - Inspect and advise within 2 working days
- Cinema and Theatre licensing - Inspect and advise within 2 working days
- Houses in multi-occupation - Inspect and advise within 2 working days
- Fire precautions / fire safety - Inspect and advise within 2 working days
- Party Wall Act 1996 - Advice and consultation
Performance Indicators
In addition to the audits which we undertake regularly as part of our ISO 9001 certification we also monitor our processes to try and ensure targets are met. Listed below are the results from some of our key performance indicators for the first quarter of the financial year 2008-2009.
- New full plans applications acknowledged within 2 working days - 92%
- New full plans applications acknowledged within 3 working days - 100%
- New building notice applications acknowledged within 2 working days - 86%
- New building notice applications acknowledged within 3 working days - 97%
- Sites inspected within 1 days notice of commencement - 100%
- Dangerous structures inspected within 2 hours of notification - 92%
- Dangerous structures inspected within 1 day from notification - 100%
