The Local Plan is a land use plan which controls the location and nature of new development within the District. The plan contains policies and maps showing designations and allocations. It is primarily used to determine planning applications.
The Local Plan must conform generally with strategic planning policy at a county and regional level. This is set out in the Warwickshire Structure Plan prepared by the County Council and the West Midlands Regional Spatial Strategy prepared by the Regional Assembly.
Adopted version of the Local Plan
The Local Plan was adopted on the 21st September 2007.
Please note that there has been one legal challenge made to the adoption of the Local Plan in respect of the decision to include an area of land to the north of Kenilworth, bordered by Highland Road and Woodland Road and known locally as the Crackley triangle, within the Green Belt. This challenge has succeeded and the inclusion of this triangle of land within the Green Belt has been quashed by the High Court. The adopted Local Plan will therefore be amended in accordance with the Court's decision and this will be reported to a Full Council meeting on July 8th.
