Recent online consultations

Leamington station area

A public consultation is now running on the plans for the old Ford site in Leamington. The consultation ran until 25th July.

District expansion plans

The council consulted on the options for growth in the area. This was a chance to have your say on where new developments should go.

Building regulations

The Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) published a consultation document on proposals for the future development of the Building Control System. This consultation ended on 10th June 2008 and the DCLG aims to publish the results withing 3 months.

Planning policies - Core Strategy: Issues Paper

The council is embarking on the preparation of its Core Strategy. This is the document that will set out the core land use planning policies that will shape development in Warwick district up until 2026. As the first stage of this, the council has prepared an "Issues Paper" that sets out the key planning issues that we consider will be affecting Warwick district over the next 19 years. We are keen to seek your views on this. This consultation ended on 25th January 2008.

Air quality consultation

In compliance with the Environment Act 1995, air quality within the district has been monitored for a number of years, and areas where vehicle fumes have been causing pollution problems have been identified. Warwick District and Warwickshire County Councils have jointly produced a draft Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) which is aimed at reducing the level of nitrogen dioxide, a pollutant derived primarily from vehicle exhausts. Business crime survey

Warwickshire Police carried out a survey in November 2007 to decide if business crime is to continue as a priority after 1st April 2008.

Affordable housing

The Council’s Executive have agreed a Mixed Communities and Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document for consultation purposes. The consultation period ran from 31st August until 12th October 2007 and results are expected in December. For full details visit the mixed communities and affordable housing page.

Parks and gardens

Warwick District Council, has the opportunity to apply to the Heritage Lottery Fund for money to improve St. Nicholas Park in Warwick. As part of the application we consulted local people to get their views. This consultation ended in February. Latest news on the plans for St Nicholas Park.

Planning - statement of community involvement (SCI)

The SCI is a clear public statement enabling the community to know how and when they will be involved in the preparation of local development documents and how they will be consulted on planning applications.

Disability survey

From December 2006 The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 was amended to place a duty on all public bodies to promote disability equality. 

A consultation was carried out in September 2006. Findings included

  • All respondents either have a disability or an interest in disability
  • 83% have not experienced difficulty in accessing council services
  • 16% find council leisure centres difficult to access

Stratford-on-Avon / Warwick District Councils Joint Business Survey

Findings included

  • 72% of those businesses that have called either council have received a good or very good service
  • 84% felt councils should publicise the availability of reliefs more than they do
  • 50% say high property prices and rents are their main problem
  • 60% recycle commercial waste

Responding to consultation findings

We respond to comments made during consultations and attempts to improve services. You can download full details in the annual newsletters outlining the council's responses to comments and feedback

Some examples of the council responding to comments:

  • A residents magazine was be launched as a result of comments received during consultation.
  • We received feedback that there were low levels of satisfaction with street cleansing. This has led to investment and improved contract enforcement. This in turn has begun to improve performance.
  • The current Corporate Strategy was heavily influenced by consultation.
  • The Community Plan was developed following extensive consultation.
  • The customer access strategy - improving ways for people to communicate with the council - was informed by the 2005 Citizen's Panel consultation.
