Annual canvass - August to December

At present the annual canvass for the electoral register is under way. To make changes to your details or to register visit the Annual Canvass page for more details.

You need to be on the electoral register to vote in local, parliamentary or European elections. You can apply to go on to the electoral register if your 18th birthday falls during the next 12 months, you are already aged 18 or over, and you are a British or Commonwealth citizen, or citizen of the Irish Republic or other EU member state. You can also make changes to your name and address.

Updates can be made monthly to the current electoral register, so you can apply to register as soon as you move into your new address, instead of waiting until the next annual canvass.

If you filled in the annual canvass form delivered to your home, you should already be on the electoral register. But if you think you may not be registered, for example, if you have recently moved home, then you need to register to vote.
