Retail development at Chandos Street – Clarendon Arcade
At its meeting of 23rd July, the Council’s Executive Committee agreed in principle to support a scheme for the development of the existing Chandos Street car park area in Leamington Spa, for a new shopping centre and car park.
The Executive agreed that Wilson Bowden Ltd be confirmed as the Council’s development partner.
It was also agreed in principle that the scheme proposed by Wilson Bowden met the Council’s requirement to achieve a development helping to secure the future of Leamington Town Centre as vital, vibrant and economically successful retailing centre.
The development will be subject to obtaining planning permission and all other necessary consents in due course.
The scheme, as submitted to Executive, will be the subject of further design evolution and will need to be the subject of a full planning application. This application will need to be supported by all the normal material including an Environmental Impact Assessment. The Planning Committee will give consideration to the proposal in the normal way including consideration of all consultation responses. The decision of the Executive to support the scheme in principle does not affect the independence of the Planning Committee in considering any detailed proposal.
The full report to Executive and all the appendices setting out the policy background, the need for the scheme, progress to date and full details can be accessed via the Committee Reports database.
You can access the the revised plans for the scheme (3MB, PDF), presented to the Executive as the Head of Planning’s presentation.
Further updates on the progress of this scheme will be provided when available.
