Warwick District Council’s main HQ at Riverside House in Leamington Spa is currently closed until Monday 28th April.
The flood damage to our Riverside House HQ that occured on Friday 25th is not as bad as first feared.
Our computer servers have not been damaged, and our website has been restored. Our phone service will be back to normal on Monday and our building will be open to the public again.
It has been confirmed that a component in a very large water storage tank in the roof space failed. Water at full mains pressure continued to pour in, overflowing the tank and cascading onto the floors below. The main damage has been to the roof space, lift shafts, and offices in the immediate vicinity.
Chris Elliott, Chief Executive, said: "I am full of praise for our staff, contractors, and the emergency services, all of whom have been magnificent. Arriving at work this morning to find our building out of use, everyone has rallied round to get things back to normal as soon as possible. A few soggy floor tiles, damaged desks, and ruined ceiling tiles have not got in the way. We will be back with a full service to our customers on Monday."
The distribution of red recycling boxes, scheduled for 10am-4pm on Saturday 26th will be going ahead as normal.
We are very grateful to our customers who have shown patience and understanding when turned away from Riverside House, and to those unable to talk to us on the phone.
