Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon Credit Unions have recently merged to form the South Warwickshire Credit Union Ltd.
A Credit Union is a non profit-making financial co-operative run by volunteers, offering a convenient local savings and low-cost loans service to its members. Membership is open to anyone living or working in the South Warwickshire area regardless of their previous financial history.
South Warwickshire Credit Union is affiliated to ABCUL (Association of British Credit Unions Ltd).
Accessing the Credit Union
Members join by buying a £1 share and opening an account. After saving for a period of 12 weeks, members become entitled to borrow money at low interest rates.
Junior membership
Membership is open to young people and a savings scheme operates in several primary schools in Warwick district, encouraging young people to become regular savers.
Green loans scheme
Supported by Warwick District Council and administered by the Credit Union, the Green Loans scheme offers council tax payers a loan to make energy efficient improvements to their home, including cavity wall insulation, loft insulation and fitting a new condensing boiler.
