Under the Council's adopted code of conduct Councillors are required, when they are elected, to make declarations with regard to any financial interests. They must keep these declarations up to date and must declare any gifts or hospitality which they receive. When attending meetings they must declare personal or prejudicial interests they may have in any item on the agenda. If the interest is prejudicial they must not take part in any discussion or decision and must leave the room.
Local councillors have to abide by a code of conduct, part of which requires them to declare any interests, gifts or hospitality which they have or receive which could influence any decisions they may make as councillors. The local authority are required to publish these declarations.
