Question: Regarding the replacement of the benches in Church Green (next to the parish church near Church Walk/Gloucester Street). These benches were apparently removed (but kept in storage) several years ago on the advice of the police after they were used by local drunks. However now that there is CCTV covering this area I would have thought that they could be replaced for the good of the community. I contacted the council many months ago several times and was told someone would get back to me but this has not happened. So please can someone request that these benches be reinstated?
Answer: Having reviewed the background as to why they were removed, I am reluctant to have them replaced.

Question: Some residents of the Sydenham Estate feel that road calming in the form of sleeping policemen be introduced along Gainsborough Drive. Can not chicanes be introduced, which is probably a more friendly form of road calming, and is as effective as sleeping policemen? Incidently I am not a driver.
Answer: I am sure that this proposal is a good one but it is not something that Warwick District Council can undertake. This is a matter for the Highways Authority which is run by Warwickshire County Council. I suggest that you approach your Ward County Councillor and with the support of your District Councillors put up a case for this proposal to be considered.
Regards, Michael Kinson Cllr Warwick West and Environment Portfolio Holder
