The council tax bill is reduced if only one adult lives in a dwelling, or for a dwelling, which is no-one's main home. Some dwellings are exempt from council tax, which means no council tax is payable while the exemption lasts.
If you are in receipt of a benefit or on a low income you may be entitled to council tax benefit.
You may also get help if you share your home with another adult, or adults, who are on a low income. This is called Second Adult Rebate.
