The Community Plan for Warwick District

Warwick District 2020, the district’s second community plan, is the product of 18 months of hard work by a multitude of individuals, groups and organisations.

The development of the new community plan was the first task facing the new local strategic partnership, the Warwick Partnership back in January 2004.  A review of the first community plan (2001 – 2003) demonstrated what progress had been made in key areas but also where gaps in service provision existed.  It was important to build on the achievements of the first Plan, as well as seeking to address new challenges and issues.

Extensive public consultation was carried out during August and September 2004, the outcomes of which helped to inform the new community plan. The key agencies signed up to the Warwick Partnership:-

  • Warwickshire Police
  • Primary Care Trust
  • Warwickshire County Council
  • Warwick District Council
  • Council for Voluntary Service

All of these bodies have all had a major input in formulating the priorities.  The process has ensured that the community plan is in synergy with partner’s corporate strategies as well as the key local strategies e.g. Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy, Primary Care Trust Local Delivery Plan, Warwickshire Strategic Plan.

The seven steering groups under the themes of community safety, health, community learning, business and economy, culture, housing and environment have played a vital role in pulling together the action plans that underpin the 6 Strategic Objectives. These 3 year action plans are stepping stones towards achieving the long term vision of the community plan:-

"We want Warwick District to be safe, healthy, fair and prosperous now and into the future."

They will be monitored every 6 months and fully reviewed towards the end of each 3 year term.
