Performance is measured through a set of Performance Indicators each of which has targets for improvement. There are three main types of indicator used by the Council:
1. National Best Value Performance Indicators: the Council is required to measure along with all other Councils. These reflect national priorities 2. Corporate Strategy Indicators: The Corporate Strategy, which sets out the main priorities for the Council as a whole, is directly supported by 21 Corporate Strategy Indicators 3. Service Area Dashboard Indicators: other service priorities are supported by Service Area Dashboard Indicators which provide information on how well specific Council services are performing

Performance results relating to the National Best Value Performance Indicators and Corporate Strategy Indicators is published every year, along with targets for future improvement, in the Best Value Performance Plan. Further information on WDC's Best Value Performance Plans
Previous Quarterly Performance Reports
Information relating to all types of indicator (including Service Area Dashboard Indicators) is reported every quarter to the Council’s Executive within the quarterly performance report. For some indictors, results are produced every quarter and these appear in every report. Others are only collected and reported on once per year. In this case, these results appear in the 4th Quarter Performance Report each year. This report forms the basis for improving performance where indicators are performing below their target.
