Take a walk around Victorian Leamington Spa
Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum is pleased to announce the launch of a new website called 'A walk around Victorian Leamington Spa’.
The website was developed for schools but is also great fun to try at home with the family. It is aimed at children age 7 and above (Key Stage 2) and presents the places, buildings and people of Victorian Leamington Spa. Images and objects from the time are drawn from the collections of Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum and Warwickshire County Record Office.
Victoria Slade, Curatorial Officer at the Art Gallery & Museum said ‘Schools can use the website in conjunction with a class visit to the Art Gallery & Museum where facilities include a Local History Gallery and Victorian Handling Boxes. The trail map and supporting documents can even be printed off and used outside of school time as a basis for a great family day out in Leamington Spa!’
The website is available to view at www.windowsonwarwickshire.org.uk, go to the spotlights section and click on 'A walk around Victorian Leamington Spa’. You can also access the website using computers available in the galleries of Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum.
'A walk around Victorian Leamington Spa’ has been produced by Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum in partnership with Warwickshire County Council, with help from Year 4 at Shrubland Street Primary School. It has been developed as part of the ‘Tapping In’ project which has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund to provide online access to the collections of Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum.
